Hotel and resort IPTV

Live channels, video on demand, a welcome screen and advertising push, delivered over the building's existing network.

Overview

Broadcast television

A hotel system is judged on the guest experience and on how little maintenance it needs. Both come down to the same decision: whether the property already has an IP network good enough to carry the channels.

Where it does, an IPTV deployment uses the existing cabling and adds only the headend. Where it does not, the choice is between running new cable and modulating onto the existing coaxial distribution — which is why we ask about the building before quoting.

What goes in the rack

These are the units this kind of project normally needs. The exact mix depends on the scale — tell us the site and we will confirm it.

Design

What decides the design

Four things that change the specification more than the equipment list does.

  • Existing cabling An IPTV build over a working network is quick. Over coaxial, a modulator onto the existing distribution is usually cheaper than recabling.
  • Video on demand VOD needs storage sized to the library, not the room count. Tell us the number of titles and the expected concurrent streams.
  • Welcome screen and branding The room screen is the first thing a guest sees. Branding, welcome messages and advertising are configured per property.
  • Maintenance by hotel staff The system is designed to be restarted and monitored by the property's own engineering team, not by a specialist on call.
